Pekilo Performance and Event Venue
Mänttä Art Festival is one of the most popular, interesting and largest exhibitions on Finnish contemporary art. The exhibition is being curated by a different curator every year. The main building, Pekilo, is a former animal food factory. It ran together with the pulp factory which was closed in 1991. Pekilo is situated in the centre of an industrial milieu in the “Art town” of Mänttä-Vilppula. Pekilo has undergone extensive alterations and renovations after its industrial use. It is said to be one of the best venues to exhibit contemporary art, with its variable rooms, the highest point the ceiling rising in 12 metres.
